Phil Rogers Is An Idiot: Part 3,245

Let me just start off by saying that Phil Rogers is an idiot. Let me repeat, Phil Rogers is an idiot. Didn't hear me? Phil Rogers is an idiot. Why is Phil Rogers an idiot you may ask? Because Phil Rogers makes up fake rumors to get online hits and he posts a bunch of useless things to back up why this fake rumor makes sense. Here's Phil Rogers using his idiotic method again today.

Yankees general manager Brian Cashman rarely yields to public pressure, but he seldom has been backed into a corner as badly as it now seems after he failed to land Cliff Lee or persuade Andy Pettitte to return.

Brian Cashman didn't fail to land anybody. Cliff Lee took a paycut to go play for the Philadelphia Phillies because somehow he liked the shitty city of Philadelphia and the fact that his wife was heckled by idiot Yankee fans. And he didn't persuade Andy Pettitte to return? Should he have sent a private jet to Baton Rouge, Lousiana or wherever the hell he lives now and picked him up? I'm sure if Pettitte wanted to play again, he'd come back and play because the Yankees have a good shot to win another ring this year. Obviously he knows his time is up.

No good-bet veterans have been added, so imagine the horror if CC Sabathia, Phil Hughes or A.J. Burnett stumbles in spring training.

Oh my God the horror of three pitchers that have shown they can pitch time in and time out slipping up in meaningless preseason games. The horror!

It's hard to imagine Cashman won't be trading for a starter between now and Opening Day, with scouts weighing the likes of Fausto Carmona, Joe Blanton and Scott Kazmir.

Wait, is it 2007?

The White Sox might want to remind Yankees types that they may have a surplus, assuming Chris Sale is ready for the rotation (175 innings tops, for his own health) and Jake Peavy can return for a solid second half, if not five solid months.

So Jake Peavy isn't starting the season? Wait, why are the White Sox trading one of their better pitchers again?

It would take a huge offer to get Danks, whom the White Sox may be able to control for only two more seasons, but the Yankees' supply of strong catching and pitching prospects — along with intriguing short-term fits like Joba Chamberlain and Sergio Mitre — make these teams a fit worth watching.

Wait, Sergio Mitre is an "intriguing" short-term fit? Holy shit this is comedy gold.

While Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf has created a sense of urgency to win, the Sox could think long term without badly hurting their 2011 chances.

Note to Phil, the White Sox have a good enough team to win the World Series THIS YEAR. The White Sox have easily one of the top 5 rotations in baseball when healthy and I'd even say it's probably THE BEST after the Phillies of course. So why the fuck are we trading John Danks again? The Yankees aren't giving you A-Rod, Teixeria, or CC Sabathia back in return because unlike you, they aren't idiots.

  1. Totally agree with everything you say. Only one thing though: no chance in hell do the Sox the strongest rotation even if healthy. Philly is just too stacked in that department.

  2. Your 100% right. Completely whiffed on the Phillies. It takes me like a month to get used to who went where once the regular season begins. Sox are top 3 though for sure when healthy
